In the book, Bill Haywood (it's actually a pen name) describes how he's made money playing online using the bonus offers. OK, it's a bit out of date seeing as nowadays you need to wager far more than when this was written but the book is a pretty good read and I'm sure anyone who's at all interested in Internet Casinos will enjoy it.
Near the end of the near 200 page book, there is a list of the good casinos (which he calls 'dairy') and a list of the bad ('beef') ones. Surprisingly, the good ones included Golden Palace but that must have been written before their problems of around the same era. If you don't mind some out of date information, it includes plenty of interesting historical facts about casinos and gaming companies and some very good advice.
I think the book was well anticipated by a few but I'm not sure where I initially heard about it. When the book was published, Michael Shackleford (aka Wizard of Odds) contacted me to tell me he'd just bought the book in Las Vegas and asked if I knew I was in it! Yes, I'm mentioned in the book a couple of times because Haywood quotes parts of a complaint I posted on Usenet from 1999 (about Monte Cristo Casino and gonegambling.com). In fact, I did get paid by that casino in the end but this wasn't mentioned in the book.
Shackleford is also mentioned in the book a couple of times for his site. At the time his site was thewizardofodds.com before he managed to buy the shorter domain but the book does make a mistake with that at one point. That's another thing I should point out about the book. It has some factual errors. The main one I remember is the mathematics section which has errors for the standard deviation calculations (Bill Haywood for some reason doesn't realise that coin tossing and blackjack have different standard deviations). It doesn't really matter too much. Also, he has no qualms about blacklisting sites based simply on his opinion.
Haywood blacklists one casino, Grand Dominican, simply because he *thinks* the software cheats (although he doesn't go as far as saying that). I can tell you that it indeed was rigged, since it was using Handa Lopez software. I did play there once too in my early days. CasinoMeister, another site he mentions in the book that he likes, was unfortunately promoting them in 1999 but Bryan was also promoting other very dodgy Handa Lopez sites at the time (using their ridiculous marketing text describing amazing graphics when it was just an HTML no download site) so his site didn't start off too well even though he claimed to have 'rigid standards' then too. Incidentally, I am not welcome to post at CasinoMeister now since earlier this year after he thought I had a hidden agenda with my postings (not true). Just because I'm a webmaster doesn't change anything. I had been visiting and posting there since 1999. I was the only poster from eight years ago that still posted there! I also fell out with the Wizard some years back as he was advertising dodgy sites too on his site at one point and he ended up telling me to leave him alone when I was trying to explain the problems with the sites he was promoting.
